Flat light and a covered sky today, with a gentle ripple from the NW with a settled glass. The productive water at Lake Delaware will be around structure within a cast of the bank. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Lake Delaware in Delaware County, New York. The land about it is mixed forest. It runs to roughly 69 acres — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The whole outline is near 1.5 miles, and most of it is walkable. It is among the larger waters listed here for Delaware County. The town to know is Delhi, 5.5 miles out. Further out sit Stamford (16 miles) and Walton (16 miles). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Fish documented in Delaware County include brown trout, brook trout and rainbow trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Lake Delaware decides where the fish sit.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 66°F, while January sits near 19°F. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early April. The season between ice runs from about early April to mid December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. At Lake Delaware the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Public data records a pier about half a mile out. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Tanglewood Lake, 2.3 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lake Delaware in what we hold.
