A closed sky with even light today, with a soft WNW wind as pressure slides. Whatever swims in Coronet Lake should be near points where shallow meets deep. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Orange County end of New York holds Coronet Lake. What surrounds it is rolling hill. It covers about 18 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Kiryas Joel sits 0.5 miles from here and is the nearest stop. Further out sit Highland Mills (1.7 miles) and Monroe (1.7 miles). One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. Survey and observation records for Orange County include common carp, brook trout, bluegill, pumpkinseed and brown trout. The county list is broader than any single water. Coronet Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July to average close to 72°F, with January the cold end at about 25°F. The year gives four workable seasons without severe ends. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Coronet Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Parking sits half a mile out, which makes for a walk with tackle. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Cromwell Lake sits 0.5 miles off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Coronet Lake.
