Open sky and sharp air tonight, with mild air moving in from the NW and the barometer heading up. Start the search at Stickle Pond along the margins and any overhead cover. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Stickle Pond lies in Morris County, New Jersey. The shore lies 24 miles out. It measures about 96 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. A shoreline of some 2.1 miles keeps the choices simple. Size puts it in the front rank of our Morris County list. Start from Kinnelon, 2.4 miles down the road. Beyond it, Butler at 3.7 miles and Bloomingdale at 4.5 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Morris County records list brown trout, brook trout and northern pike among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Stickle Pond the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The seasonal spread runs 27°F to 72°F. Temperature moves within a narrow band, and so does the fishing. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. At Stickle Pond the season follows that pattern closely. Settled weather over several days beats a single fine one.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Hoot Owl Lake at 0.7 miles is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Stickle Pond in what we hold.
