Blue sky from bank to bank today, with barely a breath of wind and the barometer heading up. On Lion Lake, work bays that hold the day's warmth first. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

In New Jersey, Lion Lake belongs to Burlington County. Around the bank it is open valley. The whole thing is a single swim; walk it in a minute. Most waters listed here for Burlington County are larger. Gibbsboro sits 2.2 miles from here and is the nearest stop. It is 14 miles to Philadelphia, the nearest city. The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Burlington County names pumpkinseed, bluegill, largemouth bass and chain pickerel. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lion Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Between January at about 32°F and July at about 76°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Seasons here are moderate, and the fishing runs most of the year. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lion Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. You can park 160 yards away and walk in from there. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Kresson Lake, 0.3 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lion Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
