Thin cloud passing over the water tonight, with a stiffish breeze from the W and a rising glass. Most of the action on Lake Wadill should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. The strongest window runs from night into morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lake Wadill in Ocean County, New Jersey. Tidal water begins 4.8 miles from here. It runs to roughly 29 acres — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Leisure Village lies 0.5 miles from the water. The big place round here is Edison, 35 miles distant. Near neighbours: Lake Riviera just 2 miles, Lake Shenandoah 2.7 miles, Forge Pond just 2.8 miles, Watering Place Brook 3.4 miles and Lake Carasaljo just 3.8 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Reported across Ocean County: bluegill, pumpkinseed, white perch, chain pickerel and largemouth bass. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lake Wadill responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Typical July readings run about 75°F; by January the average is down near 32°F. The freeze here is occasional rather than annual. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Expect Lake Wadill to follow that timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. The nearest car park is half a mile from the water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lake Riviera sits 2 miles off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Lake Wadill before loading the car.
