A day shaped by the wind, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW as pressure slides. Whatever swims in US West Lake should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

US West Lake lies in Saunders County, Nebraska. It sits at 1,129 feet above sea level. The water measures roughly 9 acres, so nothing here is far from anything else. It lies lower than most water we list in Nebraska. Ashland sits 3.5 miles from the bank. After that come Louisville at 7.6 miles and Gretna at 8.9 miles. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Fish documented in Saunders County include common carp, bluegill, green sunfish, channel catfish and black bullhead. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On US West Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Averages here run 76°F at the top of summer and 22°F at the bottom of winter. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Winter locks it down, and mid March brings it back. Ice usually gives way near mid March, and forms again about mid December. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Plan around that when you fish US West Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is recorded parking some half a mile off. A camping area sits within half a mile of here. Mapping shows a picnic spot within half a mile. Mapping records toilets within half a mile. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Thousand Oaks Lake, 3.1 miles away. Nothing on US West Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
