A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with mild air moving in from the E with pressure dropping. Start the search at Twin Lakes along the shaded margin through bright spells. One clear peak today: the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Twin Lakes is a Seward County water, in Nebraska. Height above sea level is 1,329 feet. Roughly 153 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. A shoreline of some 1.9 miles keeps the choices simple. Among the waters listed for Seward County, none is wider. Supplies mean a trip to Milford, 6.6 miles off. Seward is 9.4 miles and Crete 14 miles. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Standing timber shows when the level drops, and fish sit against it. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. Species logged across Seward County include common carp, stonecat, green sunfish, black bullhead and tadpole madtom. The county list is broader than any single water. On Twin Lakes that means starting tight and working out.
Typical July readings run about 77°F; by January the average is down near 23°F. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid March. The season between ice runs from about mid March to mid December. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. The season on Twin Lakes follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. There is a slipway on the shore, half a mile from the water we list. There is recorded parking some half a mile off. Catfish want bait on the bottom: cut bait or worms, a simple running rig, and patience after dark. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Pawnee Lake is 4.4 miles off. Rules at Twin Lakes are worth checking on the day.
