Soft grey light all day today, with a stiffish breeze from the S with the glass slipping lower. Louden Lake should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Louden Lake in the Sheridan County part of Nebraska. Country round the bank runs to lake country bush. At about 50 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. With about 1.1 miles of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Compared with other Nebraska water on our list, it sits high. Alliance is the closest place, 34 miles off. Greeley sits 173 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Sheridan County: white sucker, brown trout, rock bass, yellow perch and green sunfish. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Louden Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Typical July readings run about 72°F; by January the average is down near 22°F. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late March. Break-up sits around late March on average, with the water closing again about early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. On Louden Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Dillmans Lake is 1.1 miles off. The position on Louden Lake is worth confirming on the day.
