A windy day on the water, with next to no ripple and pressure leaking away. Whatever swims in Lagoon Lake should be near points where shallow meets deep. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Lake County end of Montana holds Lagoon Lake. Elevation runs to 6,585 feet. About 7 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. On size it sits at the modest end of our Lake County list. Ronan sits 17 miles from the bank. Beyond it, Pablo at 21 miles and Seeley Lake at 21 miles. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Lake County: rainbow trout, sockeye salmon and smallmouth bass. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Treat Lagoon Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Average temperature peaks around 54°F in August and bottoms out near 16°F in December. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid May. The open-water window runs from around mid May to about early November in an average year. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Expect Lagoon Lake to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Jewell Lake, 0.2 miles out. Nothing on Lagoon Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
