Broken cloud drifting past the moon tonight, with light air out of the WNW and no real change in pressure. Activity on Trine Lake should centre on the weed line and any gaps in it. One clear peak today: the evening. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

This water sits in Cook County, Minnesota. The water sits 1,916 feet up. With some 40 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 1.8 miles, and most of it is walkable. Compared with other Minnesota water on our list, it sits high. 15 miles away sits Grand Marais, the nearest town. Silver Bay lies 54 miles off, Neebing another 55 miles. This one is safely inside the county line.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Cook County: white sucker, yellow perch, northern pike, rainbow trout and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Trine Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
In an average year July sits at 63°F and January at 5°F. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Trine Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Arena Lake, 0.5 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Trine Lake for certain.
