A grey, even sky over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SE and pressure leaking away. Start the search at Taylor Lake along the seam between weed and open water. The day fishes best from morning through afternoon. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Taylor Lake is one of the Cass County waters in Minnesota. Everything around it is lake country bush. About 12 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Cass County. The town to know is Pequot Lakes, 16 miles out. Fargo is the closest city, 103 miles away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Cass County, recorded fish include largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill, walleye and northern pike. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Read Taylor Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July near 68°F and January near 6°F on the long-run figures. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Once it clears, about mid April, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice usually gives way near mid April, and forms again about late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Taylor Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Minnie Lake sits 0.6 miles off and takes the overflow. For Taylor Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
