Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind with a firming glass. Whatever swims in Sautter Lake should be near points where shallow meets deep. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
Sautter Lake is set in Le Sueur County, Minnesota. Height above sea level is 1,001 feet. Roughly 66 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. You are 1.2 miles from Le Center. After that come Montgomery at 7 miles and Le Sueur at 11 miles. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water. Nothing about it is complicated once you have walked it.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Le Sueur County records list common carp, bluegill, largemouth bass and walleye among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. The near bank of Sautter Lake is often the one people ignore.
Typical July readings run about 71°F; by January the average is down near 11°F. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early April. Break-up near early April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Sautter Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Tyler Lake sits 1.5 miles off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Sautter Lake.
