Solid cloud cover today, with a kind SSW breeze on the water with the glass slipping lower. Expect most activity at Round Lake around inflow corners and shaded margins. The day holds up well from night into morning. Work the productive water thoroughly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Round Lake is set in Morrison County, Minnesota. It lies 1,257 feet above sea level. Roughly 94 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Bank access stretches around 2.1 miles in total. Baxter at 13 miles is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit East Gull Lake (14 miles) and Staples (14 miles). You are close to a county edge here; who manages the access can change within a short drive.
Surveys put the deepest water at about 21 feet. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Morrison County include largemouth bass, bluegill and northern pike. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. The near bank of Round Lake is often the one people ignore.
Typical July readings run about 69°F; by January the average is down near 8°F. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. From about mid April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Round Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. The nearest alternative is Stanchfield Lake, 1.3 miles out. None of that is settled for Round Lake in what we hold.
