Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with light air out of the SW with the glass holding level. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Quick Lake. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Quick Lake in the Saint Louis County part of Minnesota. Everything around it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 15 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saint Louis County list. For a base, Two Harbors sits 18 miles out. Arnold is 20 miles and Hoyt Lakes 26 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Saint Louis County list yellow perch, northern pike, white sucker and rainbow trout. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Quick Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put July at about 65°F and January near 6°F. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Quick Lake that shapes the whole year.
No access rule appears in what we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. For a change of water, Marion Lake is 1.1 miles distant. None of that is settled for Quick Lake in what we hold.
