Full sun on the water today, with a stiffish breeze from the SW as pressure slides. Expect most activity at Oak Lake around the weed line and any gaps in it. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Oak Lake in the Lincoln County part of Minnesota. Country round the bank runs to pine and birch. The water covers some 71 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. It sits round rather than ragged, so structure comes from depth, not shape. Our Lincoln County list holds plenty of bigger water. Supplies mean a trip to Canby, 12 miles off. For a city, Sioux Falls is 73 miles off. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name common carp, yellow perch, walleye and black bullhead. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Work Oak Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
July runs about 72°F on average, January about 12°F. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. Averages place the thaw at early April and the freeze at late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Plan around that when you fish Oak Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Perch Lake, 2.9 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Oak Lake before loading the car.
