No direct sun expected today, with a faint NW drift with pressure dropping. The productive water at Long Lake will be around structure within a cast of the bank. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Night
Long Lake is set in Douglas County, Minnesota. The land about it is mixed forest. Roughly 188 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. You are looking at roughly 3.6 miles of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Head to Elbow Lake, 14 miles away, for anything you forgot. Alexandria lies 16 miles off, Parkers Prairie another 22 miles. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Douglas County cover largemouth bass, common carp and bluegill. The county list is broader than any single water. Read Long Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July near 70°F and January near 8°F on the long-run figures. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Ice-out usually falls in mid April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Break-up near mid April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. The season on Long Lake follows the weather closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Jennie Lake at 1.2 miles is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Long Lake in what we hold.
