Heavy overcast holding through the day, with just enough SE wind to ripple the surface and a falling glass. Little Flat Lake should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Keep moving until you find them. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Night
In Minnesota, Little Flat Lake falls inside Becker County. The ground round it is rolling bush. At about 205 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Shoreline comes to about 2.9 miles, small enough to learn in a day. It ranks high for size among our Becker County listings. Head to Detroit Lakes, 15 miles away, for anything you forgot. After that come Frazee at 19 miles and Mahnomen at 26 miles. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Species logged across Becker County include bluegill, largemouth bass and walleye. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Little Flat Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Climate normals give 67°F for July and 4°F for January. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. From about mid April to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Little Flat Lake.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Mary Yellowhead Lake at 1.6 miles is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Little Flat Lake in what we hold.
