Look for Light Foot Lake in the Wright County part of Minnesota. The water sits 925 feet up. With some 63 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 1.6 miles of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Minnesota listings. 3.2 miles away sits Buffalo, the nearest town. The big place round here is Minneapolis, 35 miles distant. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Wright County records list largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and yellow perch among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. Fish Light Foot Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Average temperature peaks around 71°F in July and bottoms out near 11°F in January. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early April. On average, early April opens the water and late November closes it again. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Light Foot Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A carry of half a mile from the nearest parking is the price of fishing here. Public data records a pier about half a mile out. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. North Twin Lake, 0.6 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Light Foot Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
