A closed sky with even light today, with air barely moving and pressure easing off. Fish at Legler Lake should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. Save your energy for the evening. Change depth before you change anything else. Biting air and slow fish: small baits, long pauses.

Legler Lake sits within Lake County in Minnesota. Height above sea level is 1,716 feet. With some 55 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 1.1 miles of margin, front to back. It sits higher than most water we list in Minnesota. Silver Bay at 17 miles is the nearest place to stop. Two Harbors lies 21 miles off, Hoyt Lakes another 28 miles. No border sits close enough to matter.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Lake County include white sucker, yellow perch and northern pike. The county list is broader than any single water. Take Legler Lake a stretch at a time.
Between January at about 6°F and July at about 64°F, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. At Legler Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Langley Lake, 0.7 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Legler Lake before loading the car.
