Glare on the water under a clear sky, with a useful SW wind pushing food about and pressure leaking away. Whatever swims in Lake Sarah should be near reed fringes and open pockets. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Minnesota, Lake Sarah belongs to Lyon County. This is mixed forest ground. It measures some 1,124 acres, and wind has room to build across it. There is roughly 6.6 miles of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Nothing else we list in Lyon County covers more water. Tracy at 9.1 miles is the nearest place to stop. Slayton follows at 11 miles, then Tyler at 20 miles. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
The basin has been measured to about 11 feet. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Lyon County, recorded fish include common carp, walleye, black bullhead, yellow perch and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The shape of Lake Sarah decides where the fish sit.
The seasonal spread runs 12°F to 71°F. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early April. From about early April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lake Sarah.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows a campsite some half a mile from the water. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lake Maria sits 1.9 miles off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lake Sarah in what we hold.
