Scattered cloud dimming the moonlight, with a helpful ripple pushed from the ESE and the barometer on the way down. Most of the action on Lake Linka should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. One clear peak today: the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Minnesota holds Lake Linka, in Pope County. The bank gives way to mixed forest. The water covers some 174 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. A shoreline of some 1.9 miles keeps the choices simple. For supplies, Glenwood is 11 miles out. Starbuck is 12 miles and Benson 17 miles. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Pope County include largemouth bass, common carp, northern pike, yellow perch and black crappie. The county list is broader than any single water. Lake Linka responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Averages here run 71°F at the top of summer and 10°F at the bottom of winter. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. After early April the shallows warm and the fish move up. From about early April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. That shapes the year on Lake Linka.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Gilchrist Lake is 1 mile distant.
