A wet system passing over today, with just enough N wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Lake should come off structure within a cast of the bank. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Minnesota holds Lac Lake, in Carlton County. This is pine and birch country. Small at around 8 acres: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Our Carlton County list holds plenty of bigger water. Cloquet at 11 miles is the nearest place to stop. Then Carlton, 14 miles, and Esko, 16 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Carlton County include bluegill, yellow perch, black crappie and largemouth bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The seasonal spread runs 7°F to 67°F. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. The lid tends to go about mid April and return around late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That shapes the year on Lac Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Dead Fish Lake at 0.7 miles is the nearest alternative. Check the position on Lac Lake before loading the car.
