Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a gentle ripple from the WNW with pressure climbing. On Jack Lake, work points where shallow meets deep first. Everything points to the middle of the day. Keep expectations modest and fish carefully. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Jack Lake sits in Lake County, out in Minnesota. Country round the bank runs to pine and birch. It measures about 43 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. About 1.2 miles of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Compared with other Minnesota water on our list, it sits high. Silver Bay at 29 miles is the nearest place to stop. Ely is 30 miles away, with Babbitt at 30 miles. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Lake County records list white sucker, yellow perch, northern pike and rainbow trout among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Fish Jack Lake to its features, not to its size.
Typical July readings run about 64°F; by January the average is down near 5°F. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Jack Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
We hold no note on access for this one. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Sylvania Lake is 0.8 miles off. Check the position on Jack Lake before loading the car.
