Stars out and no cloud tonight, with hardly a ripple anywhere and the barometer heading up. Elms Lake should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. A broad window opens from morning through afternoon. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Isanti County in Minnesota is where Elms Lake sits. Height above sea level is 932 feet. Around 53 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. The full circuit measures close to 1.0 miles on foot. It is low-lying compared with other Minnesota water we list. Start from Cambridge, 1.9 miles down the road. Further out sit Isanti (4.2 miles) and North Branch (12 miles). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Isanti County include largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill, common carp and northern pike. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Work Elms Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Between January at about 10°F and July at about 70°F, the water has a wide range to work through. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early April. The open-water window runs from around early April to about late November in an average year. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Elms Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A made slipway is half a mile from here, which settles the boat question. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Florence Lake, 0.5 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Elms Lake in what we hold.
