Overcast skies today, with a mirror surface most of the day and a falling glass. Whatever swims in Edd Lake should be near the calm side of the wind. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Edd Lake is one of the Itasca County waters in Minnesota. It stands 1,316 feet above sea level. It covers about 11 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Most waters listed here for Itasca County are larger. Nearest town is Cohasset, 12 miles off. Then Grand Rapids, 15 miles, and Coleraine, 16 miles. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Public occurrence data for Itasca County names yellow perch, largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill and black crappie. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Edd Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Between January at about 4°F and July at about 67°F, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Once it clears, about mid April, the fishing comes on quickly. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. That is the shape of the year on Edd Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Jim Lake, 0.2 miles away. Treat Edd Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
