Flat light and a covered sky today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SW with pressure dropping. The productive water at Doe Lake will be around the seam between weed and open water. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Set in Hubbard County, Minnesota, this is Doe Lake. Around the bank it is mixed forest. At roughly 10 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Our Hubbard County list holds plenty of bigger water. Head to Park Rapids, 18 miles away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Menahga (24 miles) and Pequot Lakes (30 miles). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Hubbard County include walleye, northern pike, black crappie and bluegill. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Doe Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
The year swings from about 5°F in January to roughly 68°F in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Averages place the thaw at mid April and the freeze at mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Expect Doe Lake to follow that timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Mary Lake sits 0.4 miles off and takes the overflow. The position on Doe Lake is worth confirming on the day.
