Flat light and a covered sky today, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and the barometer on the way down. Fish at Dirty Nose Lake should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop.

Night
Set in Cass County, Minnesota, this is Dirty Nose Lake. This is mixed forest country. The water covers some 43 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 1.1 miles all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Some 16 miles away sits Cohasset, the nearest settlement. Beyond it, Grand Rapids at 19 miles and Coleraine at 25 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Cass County list largemouth bass, yellow perch and bluegill. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Dirty Nose Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
July runs about 67°F on average, January about 5°F. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Dirty Nose Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Zimmerman Lake is 0.9 miles off. For Dirty Nose Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
