Heavy overcast holding through the day, with the surface near flat and pressure leaking away. Fish at Cranberry Lake should hold close to points where shallow meets deep. The day fishes best from morning through afternoon. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Cranberry Lake in the Cass County part of Minnesota. The bank is 1,516 feet above sea level. It runs to roughly 36 acres — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The whole outline is near 1.2 miles, and most of it is walkable. Nearest town is Pequot Lakes, 21 miles off. The nearest city of size is Fargo, 103 miles away. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Cass County list largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Cranberry Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Climate normals give 68°F for July and 6°F for January. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid April. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan any trip to Cranberry Lake around it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Should this one be busy, Perch Lake is 0.4 miles off. None of that is settled for Cranberry Lake in what we hold.
