A clear night sky over the water, with a busy N wind on the open water with a firming glass. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Cedar Lake. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Cedar Lake in the Wright County part of Minnesota. Elevation runs to 991 feet. At some 779 acres it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. Some 6.3 miles of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. It ranks high for size among our Wright County listings. Annandale sits 2.9 miles from here and is the nearest stop. Minneapolis sits 44 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Measured depth reaches about 114 feet at the deepest point. Built water gives depth close in, which suits a bank angler. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Open biodiversity records for Wright County list largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. At Cedar Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Climate records put July near 71°F and January near 10°F. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Once it clears, about early April, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about early April to late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. On Cedar Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. A boat ramp sits half a mile away, so trailered boats can get on. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Somers Lake, 1.9 miles away. For Cedar Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
