Broken cloud drifting past the moon tonight, with almost no wind to speak of with a firming glass. The productive water at Bloom Lake will be around reed fringes and open pockets. The day fishes best from morning through afternoon. Pick two or three spots and rotate them. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Bloom Lake is an Itasca County water, Minnesota side. Beyond the shoreline you have mixed forest. The water covers some 34 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. For supplies, Coleraine is 24 miles out. Further out sit Keewatin (26 miles) and Cohasset (27 miles). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Itasca County include yellow perch, largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill and black crappie. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Bloom Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The range across the year is 4°F to 66°F. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. On average, mid April opens the water and late November closes it again. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Bloom Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Lake Alice, 1 mile out. Nothing here settles the position at Bloom Lake for certain.
