No direct sun expected today, with a light ESE breeze with a firming glass. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Almora Lake. Plan around the stretch from afternoon into evening. Keep moving until you find them. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Almora Lake falls in Otter Tail County, part of Minnesota. The ground round it is rolling bush. With some 40 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 1.0 miles or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is a small entry by Otter Tail County standards. Parkers Prairie lies 4 miles from the water. The nearest city of size is Fargo, 85 miles away. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Otter Tail County cover largemouth bass, black crappie and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Almora Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 69°F and January reads 7°F. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. On average, mid April opens the water and late November closes it again. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan around that when you fish Almora Lake.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Curtis Lake sits 0.6 miles off and takes the overflow. Check the position at Almora Lake before loading the car.
