Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a light SE breeze with pressure dropping. Fish at Ware Lake should hold close to any hard bottom among the soft. The best of it runs afternoon into evening. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Ware Lake lies in Kent County, in Michigan. It lies 883 feet above sea level. The water measures roughly 23 acres, so nothing here is far from anything else. For supplies, Cedar Springs is 5.5 miles out. For a city, Grand Rapids is 24 miles off. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here. It is easier to fish well than to fish quickly.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Kent County names bluegill, rock bass, johnny darter, largemouth bass and black crappie. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Ware Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July near 70°F and January near 21°F on the long-run figures. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice-out usually falls in early April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early April until roughly mid December. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. At Ware Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
No access rule appears in what we hold. A carry of half a mile from the nearest parking is the price of fishing here. Matts Bait -n- Tackle is the mapped fishing point, half a mile out. There are toilets mapped about half a mile away. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Failing this one, try Gould Lake, 0.2 miles away. None of that is settled for Ware Lake in what we hold.
