A hard blow across the water today, with a firm S blow and pressure easing off. Twin Lakes should fish best around the calm side of the wind today. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Twin Lakes sits in Schoolcraft County, out in Michigan. The land about it is lake country bush. About 20 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. With about 1.0 miles of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Newberry lies 20 miles from the water. Beyond it, Munising at 37 miles and Manistique at 41 miles. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Schoolcraft County records list rainbow smelt, alewife, bloater, yellow perch and white sucker among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. The near bank of Twin Lakes is often the one people ignore.
The warmest month averages 64°F, the coldest about 16°F. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at early December. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Anyone fishing Twin Lakes regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Green Pond at 0.6 miles is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Twin Lakes in what we hold.
