An even grey lid over the water, with a gentle ripple from the SW and pressure on the rise. The fish at Twin Lakes are likely to sit near the shaded margin through bright spells. A long productive spell runs morning through afternoon. Make the first hour count and build on it. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

You will find Twin Lakes in Macomb County, Michigan. It stands 896 feet above sea level. At 11 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Head to Lake Orion, 6 miles away, for anything you forgot. Then Romeo, 6.1 miles, and Rochester, 6.2 miles. What else is close: Cranberry Lake at 1.9 miles, Tamarack Lake just 2.1 miles, Green Lake at 2.4 miles, Inwood Lake just 2.4 miles and Dollar Lake at 2.7 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Macomb County records list yellow perch, common carp, rainbow darter and bluegill among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Read Twin Lakes before you fish it and the day goes better.
The year swings from about 22°F in January to roughly 70°F in July. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early April. Ice usually gives way near early April, and forms again about mid December. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Expect Twin Lakes to follow that timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. The nearest mapped parking is half a mile away, so the last stretch is on foot. A pier or jetty stands half a mile away, which helps on a crowded bank. There is a toilet block some half a mile out. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Cranberry Lake, 1.9 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Twin Lakes carry more weight than any list.
