Clear overhead with good moonlight, with an easy breeze from the S with the glass on the way up. Expect most activity at Prescott Lake around the seam between weed and open water. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Grand Traverse County end of Michigan holds Prescott Lake. It lies 604 feet above sea level. At about 32 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 0.9 miles, and most of it is walkable. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Michigan listings. Nearest town is Elk Rapids, 6.2 miles off. Green Bay sits 127 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Grand Traverse County, recorded fish include rock bass, yellow perch, white sucker and smallmouth bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Prescott Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
On the long-term average, July reads 68°F and January reads 22°F. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid April. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about mid December in an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Prescott Lake that shapes the whole year.
