Showers crossing the water today, with a faint S drift with pressure climbing. On Pequet Lake, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. Everything points to the middle of the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Pequet Lake lies in Houghton County, Michigan. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. About 15 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Michigan listings. L'Anse at 19 miles is the nearest place to stop. Baraga lies 20 miles off, Iron River another 30 miles. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Houghton County include rainbow smelt, bloater and cisco. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Pequet Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Seasonal averages run from 11°F in January up to 65°F in July. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near mid April. Break-up near mid April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Expect Pequet Lake to follow that timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Haywire Lake, 0.8 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Pequet Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
