Hard light and clear air over the water, with a soft WNW wind with the glass on the way up. Start the search at Lower Lake along shallow cover and weed edges. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lower Lake in Kent County, Michigan. The land about it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 9 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. For supplies, Cedar Springs is 4.1 miles out. Kent City follows at 9.4 miles, then Howard City at 9.9 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Kent County, recorded fish include bluegill, rock bass, johnny darter, largemouth bass and black crappie. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lower Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
The year swings from about 21°F in January to roughly 70°F in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Count the season from break-up, usually early April. In an average year the thaw lands around early April and the freeze near mid December. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Time your trip to Lower Lake by conditions rather than dates.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Middle Lake, 0.4 miles away. Check the position on Lower Lake before loading the car.
