Flat light and a covered sky today, with light air out of the WSW and a rising glass. The fish at Low Lake are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Low Lake is one of the Kent County listings for Michigan. Land around it is pine and birch. Supplies mean a trip to Sparta, 2.8 miles off. For a city, Grand Rapids is 13 miles off. Within a short drive: High Lake after 0.4 miles, Nelson Lake a shade over 0.6 miles, Wallace Lake after 0.7 miles, Meek Lake a shade over 0.9 miles and Whit Lake after 1.3 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Kent County cover bluegill, rock bass, johnny darter, largemouth bass and black crappie. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Low Lake a short move beats a long cast.
On the long-term average, July reads 70°F and January reads 22°F. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early April. Averages suggest open water from about early April through to roughly mid December. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Anyone fishing Low Lake regularly works to that calendar.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. High Lake, 0.4 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Low Lake.
