Open sky and sharp air tonight, with a busy W wind on the open water with the glass on the way up. Fish at Lost Lake should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lost Lake in Barry County, Michigan. It stands 823 feet above sea level. About 5 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Our Barry County list holds plenty of bigger water. Lake Odessa sits 5.7 miles from the bank. Then Nashville, 9.6 miles, and Portland, 12 miles. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Barry County: bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow perch and black crappie. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lost Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Average temperature peaks around 71°F in July and bottoms out near 22°F in January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Once it clears, about late March, the fishing comes on quickly. Climate figures give an open season running late March to mid December. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. On Lost Lake that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. A launch point is recorded some half a mile off. You will be walking about half a mile from the nearest car park. This sits inside Tamarack Lake State Game Area, so read the reserve notices first. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lookingglass Lake, 0.2 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lost Lake in what we hold.
