No direct sun expected today, with a gentle ripple from the SW and pressure ticking upward. The water to cover at Leeke Lake is windblown banks where food collects. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Michigan holds Leeke Lake, in Jackson County. It sits at 909 feet above sea level. About 12 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Head to Stockbridge, 4.6 miles away, for anything you forgot. The big place round here is Ann Arbor, 22 miles distant. Neighbouring water: Markla Lake out at 1.6 miles, Spruce Lake 1.9 miles away, Avery Lake out at 2 miles, Boyce Lake 2.2 miles away and Whitehead Lake out at 2.2 miles. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Jackson County include bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow perch and black crappie. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Leeke Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Between January at about 22°F and July at about 71°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late March. Averages place the thaw at late March and the freeze at mid December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Anyone fishing Leeke Lake regularly works to that calendar.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Expect a half a mile walk in from where the car goes. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Markla Lake at 1.6 miles is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Leeke Lake.
