Soft grey light all day today, with just enough WNW wind to ripple the surface with the glass slipping lower. Whatever swims in Lake Tacoma should be near reed fringes and open pockets. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Essex County end of Ontario holds Lake Tacoma. The surface lies 173 metres up. About 7 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is a small entry by Essex County standards. The nearest town is Windsor, 4.4 km away. It is 4 km to Windsor, the nearest city. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Essex County list yellow perch, white perch, freshwater drum and gizzard shad. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Take Lake Tacoma a stretch at a time.
July runs about 23°C on average, January about -4°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Look for the thaw near late March; the fishing lifts straight after. Ice usually gives way near late March, and forms again about late December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. That is the shape of the year on Lake Tacoma.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. A marina sits 710 m off, so fuel and a proper ramp are close. You can leave the car about 100 m from the water. There is a mapped landing stage 150 m away. Picnic facilities are recorded some 570 m out. There are toilets 210 m off. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lake Muskoday sits 2.2 km off and takes the overflow. For Lake Tacoma in particular, ask before you travel.
