Open sky and sharp air tonight, with almost no wind to speak of and pressure on the rise. Deadman Lake should fish best around reed fringes and open pockets today. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Night
Look for Deadman Lake in the Gogebic County part of Michigan. It sits at 1,565 feet above sea level. Roughly 49 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. A shoreline of some 1.4 miles keeps the choices simple. It is high ground by Michigan standards. Nearest town is Iron River, 28 miles off. After that come Eagle River at 29 miles and Stambaugh, Iron River at 29 miles. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Gogebic County include bluegill, yellow perch, walleye, largemouth bass and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Take Deadman Lake a stretch at a time.
Expect July near 65°F and January near 10°F on the long-run figures. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Plan around that when you fish Deadman Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Launch at Deadman Lake Boat Launch, half a mile from the water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Buck Lake is 1.2 miles off. Rules at Deadman Lake are worth checking on the day.
