A grey, even sky over the water, with a light NW breeze and the barometer on the way down. The productive water at Connor Lake will be around reed fringes and open pockets. A long productive spell runs the day. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Michigan holds Connor Lake, in Alger County. It lies 784 feet above sea level. At roughly 18 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. The closest town, Munising, is 18 miles distant. Green Bay sits 131 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Others worth noting: Hidden Lake just 0.7 miles, Blue Lake at 1.2 miles, Skeels Lake just 1.3 miles, Muskrat Lake at 1.6 miles and Skeels Pond just 1.7 miles. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Alger County include yellow perch, rainbow smelt, northern pike and white sucker. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Connor Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July near 65°F and January near 15°F on the long-run figures. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to early December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan around that when you fish Connor Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Hidden Lake, 0.7 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Connor Lake for certain.
