Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the NNW with the glass on the way up. On Cobmoosa Lake, work sheltered bays and points first. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

The Oceana County end of Michigan holds Cobmoosa Lake. Mixed forest runs right down to the water. It covers about 23 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. The closest town, Hart, is 9 miles away. Beyond it, Shelby at 9.5 miles and Fremont at 18 miles. Within a short run: Evans Lake 1.6 miles off, Leavitt Lake at 2.3 miles, Sparks Lake 2.6 miles off, Ralston Lake at 3.4 miles and Sorter Lake 3.6 miles off. Rules here are straightforward: one county, one set of rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Oceana County records list brook trout, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Cobmoosa Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Between January at about 21°F and July at about 69°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early April. Break-up sits around early April on average, with the water closing again about mid December. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It holds true on Cobmoosa Lake more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Evans Lake is 1.6 miles off. Nothing on Cobmoosa Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
