Overcast skies today, with a busy WNW wind on the open water and pressure on the rise. Bedore Lake should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. The productive run goes the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Bedore Lake is set in Montmorency County, Michigan. Height above sea level is 801 feet. At about 38 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 1.2 miles in total. Nearest place of any size is Rogers City, 21 miles away. Then Lewiston, 24 miles, and Alpena, 27 miles. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Montmorency County, recorded fish include largemouth bass, bluegill, northern pike and rock bass. The county list is broader than any single water. At Bedore Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
In an average year July sits at 67°F and January at 17°F. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly early December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Anyone fishing Bedore Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is a car park half a mile from the bank. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Long Lake Pond, 0.2 miles away. None of that is settled for Bedore Lake in what we hold.
