Stars out and no cloud tonight, with stillness over the whole water and the barometer heading up. Give standing timber and the edges around it the first hour at The Reservoir. The best of it runs morning through afternoon. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Reservoir is one of the Plymouth County listings for Massachusetts. The ground around here is mixed woodland. This is a pocket water of some 20 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is low-lying compared with other Massachusetts water we list. Head to North Lakeville, 0.4 miles away, for anything you forgot. New Bedford sits 16 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Reported across Plymouth County: tessellated darter, striped bass, bluegill and swamp darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The Reservoir fishes better once you know its edges.
Expect July to average close to 72°F, with January the cold end at about 28°F. The calendar is generous: something works in nearly every month. Hard water here is never dependable, so check for yourself before stepping out. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. At The Reservoir the season follows that pattern closely.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. The closest car park is half a mile away, so pack accordingly. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Clear Pond is 0.7 miles off. Treat access at The Reservoir as something to verify.
