Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a soft S wind as pressure slides. The productive water at Pequot Pond will be around any feature that breaks the open water. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Pequot Pond is one of the Hampden County waters in Massachusetts. Elevation runs to 262 feet. At about 155 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. On our Hampden County list it sits near the top for size. Start from Southampton, 3.6 miles down the road. It is 8.1 miles to Springfield, the nearest city. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Hampden County list bluegill, white sucker and pumpkinseed. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Pequot Pond responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July runs about 71°F on average, January about 23°F. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Look for the thaw near late March; the fishing lifts straight after. Expect the water usable from around late March until roughly late December. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Plan any trip to Pequot Pond around it.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Boat access is recorded roughly half a mile away. A parking area is marked roughly half a mile out. A pier half a mile from here gives a platform over deeper water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Horse Pond, 0.6 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Pequot Pond if anything is unclear.
