Flat light and a covered sky today, with a soft N wind and a falling glass. Activity on Lake Martin should centre on reed fringes and open pockets. The evening carries the best of the day. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
The Worcester County entry here is Lake Martin, in Massachusetts. Height above sea level is 1,037 feet. At 6 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. On size it sits at the modest end of our Worcester County list. Start from Winchendon, 1.8 miles down the road. Beyond it, Rindge at 5.3 miles and Baldwinville at 5.5 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Worcester County cover bluegill, chain pickerel, largemouth bass and pumpkinseed. The county list is broader than any single water. Fish Lake Martin where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Typical July readings run about 68°F; by January the average is down near 20°F. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. The season between ice runs from about early April to mid December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lake Martin fishes to that pattern most years.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Parking is not close: half a mile from the bank, and no nearer option is mapped. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Lake Sal is 0.6 miles distant. None of that is settled for Lake Martin in what we hold.
