Flat light and a covered sky today, with a persistent wind from the WNW and pressure easing off. On Lake Marguerite, work windblown banks where food collects first. Even, unhurried fishing on the cards. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
The Northwest Hills Planning Region entry here is Lake Marguerite, in Connecticut. Around the bank it is lake country bush. Roughly 38 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 1.1 miles, and most of it is walkable. It is high ground by Connecticut standards. The nearest place of any size is Winsted, 8.6 miles away. New Marlborough is 9.1 miles away, with Winchester Center at 10 miles. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Northwest Hills Planning Region include bluegill, brown trout, largemouth bass and pumpkinseed. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lake Marguerite before you fish it and the day goes better.
Seasonal averages run from 21°F in January up to 68°F in July. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Break-up comes around early April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Expect the water usable from around early April until roughly mid December. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Expect Lake Marguerite to follow that timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. If the gate is shut, Lake Triangle at 1.7 miles is the nearest alternative. Treat Lake Marguerite as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
