Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a mirror surface most of the day and pressure on the rise. The productive water at Brookhaven Lake will be around any hard bottom among the soft. Block out the hours from morning through afternoon. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are.

You will find Brookhaven Lake in Worcester County, Massachusetts. The setting is mixed forest on every side. It measures about 34 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The nearest town is Ware, 2.6 miles away. For a city, Worcester is 20 miles off. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near. It sits far enough from the road to feel away from things.
Depth figures are not published for this one. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Across Worcester County, recorded fish include bluegill, chain pickerel, largemouth bass and pumpkinseed. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Take Brookhaven Lake a stretch at a time.
July runs about 69°F on average, January about 22°F. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. Averages suggest open water from about early April through to roughly late December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Brookhaven Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. The nearest car park we can see is half a mile out, so expect a walk with your gear. This sits inside Lucy Stone Home Site, so read the reserve notices first. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Wickaboag Pond, 2.1 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Brookhaven Lake in what we hold.
